The Life and Legacy of George Washington


Morrison House Presents: Christopher Erney, Torpedo Factory Artist

Artist Christopher Erney will discuss the creation of the George Washington Mural which illustrates the life and legacy of George Washington. The George Washington Mural is located along the Mount Vernon Trail just north of Old Town Alexandria, Virginia and is the longest realistic mural in the United States at 1,200 feet. The artist will discuss local history as well as difficulties in creating a 12,000 square foot piece of outdoor public art.

Alexandria 's Christopher Erney has lectured and exhibited his artwork throughout the United States and Europe. His next scheduled exhibit is in Versailles, France at the 2010 International Painter's Salon.

This charming setting provides an ideal backdrop for members of the public to participate in an open and lively conversation with artists, authors, and archaeologists from Alexandria and the nationally acclaimed Torpedo Factory Art Center.
The series is sponsored by the Torpedo Factory Artists' Association, the Alexandria Archaeological Commission, and the Morrison House Hotel.
